Disaster Preparedness
In the event of a major emergency
earthquake, regional power outage, major fire, windstorm, blizzard, etc.
it could be weeks before help can get to us. Our community will need to work together and take care of each other until help can arrive.

*Water
The city of Seattle has advised, in the event of a major earthquake, that we turn off city water access until it can be determined that the supply system as not been compromised and that waste water/sewage has not contaminated the water supply.
The official recommendation is to have 3 gallons of water on hand, per person , per day. (At least one gallon per person for drinking, brushing teeth, washing hands, etc. Additional water for cooking, cleaning, etc. )
FEMA warns us NOT to use pool water for drinking, bathing, or washing dishes, because of all the chemicals used in pools.
